News and Match Results

Dear Member

It’s been a strange and turbulent year for the club. Just as the season started the news broke that Frisby lakes and surrounding land had been purchased by the Celtic Lakes Resort group. This was a massive blow to our club. Despite many negotiations with the new owner we have been unable to reach an agreement for us to carry on fishing at the lakes. Basically too much is being asked for a reduced and restricted fishing area. The sad news is that after 48 years we will be leaving Frisby Lakes at the end of May.

However the new owner has assured us that we can carry on as usual, with full use of both lakes until our lease expires on May 31st. Both lakes will remain open until then.

The good news is that the club has secured an agreement to use one of the lakes at the Lakeview Fisheries complex from June 1st this year. This will be for the exclusive use of club members. The plan for this season is just to fish the lake, basically to find out what’s in there. Around about December we intend to drain the lake and carry out remodelling to create an island and install platforms etc. Then refill plus restocking to make it a mixed fishery. The idea is to establish a venue where waggler, feeder, and pole will all be viable methods.

In addition all existing members can fish ALL of the lakes on the complex (when available) just by producing your club card. To qualify for this concession you MUST renew your membership through the club membership secretary

STEVE BARNARD, 4 WAVERLEY COURT, MELTON MOWBRAY, LEICS, LE13 1DU. Don’t forget to send a SAE.

New members joining this year will be eligible for a discounted day ticket again on production of your club card. After three years continuous membership access to all lakes will be available with your club card.

Club books sold in tackle shops will not be eligible for all discounts. Membership prices remain unchanged.

This will be a new start for our club. We appreciate it may not be to every ones liking, especially our pike and zander anglers. But the club must regroup and start to build up again. We are working hard on securing further venues to add to your club card.

Look forward to seeing you all again in the new season.
